Morning fashion lovers,Still trying to wrap up all the fashionable moments of the previous year... At the 2014 music meets runway Africa, which held on the 23rd of december. At the event where almost everyone seemed to be wearing trash, the gorgeous media powerhouse ,Toke Makinwa stood out, she was our best dressed at the event.
she looked nothing short of heavenly in this gorgeous red number by , she was styled by the amazing .
The outfit features an exaggerated peplum detail and nude sheer sleeves. She paired it with christian Louboutin matching nude pumps, we all know Toke never gets it wrong with her hair and makeup, she always keeps it sleek and perfect. she looks absolutely amazing ,clearly this lady knows what fits her and what looks good on her, can't wait to see more amazing styles from her this new year.
Some more amazing styles on the red carpet at the 2014 music meets runway Africa.

Stephanie Coker
Stephanie coker , walked the red carpet in a black and white number by , the gown features a black leather peplum detail, sheer sleeves and feather ruffles around her neck line.
We would have loved to see less of the feather ruffles so we can concentrate more on the skirt, still she looks good.
Olakunbi oyelese of april by kunbi looked heavenly in an all white errthing look, she wore a lace see through top with long sleeves and matching skirt and to channel an African inspired look, she completed her look with a white turban and white Ankle strap heels. We absolutely loved it.
It is really our wish that some of this celebrities and other people who go for red carpet shows pay attention to every detail of their outfit before stepping out of the house.
First we have Lilian Unachukwu in this amazing emerald green of shoulder top with a peplum detail and a mermaid inspired skirt, she looks good but we are so distracted by the rumpled skirt , please and please their are good laundry services left, right and center in Lagos, this is unacceptable.
Secondly we have Teni sagoe in a shorter version of one of her clan designs, the figure hugging dress absolutely suits her but please and please we want to appeal to the ladies out there to please try and maintain well toned legs and after "shining shining" their face with foundation try and apply some on those large black spots on your legs or contact a makeup artist that can help with that kinda stuff.
And lastly, this lovely lady had us 'awwing' in the beginning till we spotted the purple mahnolo blahnik shoes matched with a red bag, these two colors obviously don't go well together , sometimes you have to find the perfect shade of the two colors to put together before it works , or just go with two colors that work well together *sigh* still she looked gorgeous, love the fitting of the dress on her and that boat neck line is absolutely beautiful!!! it just really flatters her neckline.
We have a few of the worst looks from the MMR 2014.
First we have Patoranking in a two piece traditional adire, this would have been excused because this is an event that merges two amazing worlds together music and fashion and as an icon for the both it is expected that he really brings it and not come show his patrotism for Africa.Anyways he made the outfit just unexplainable by adding a bandana and then those stupid white sandals, I still don't understand why people or anyone thinks its cool to wear sandals on the red carpet, he then wore dark shades to further complicate his outfit, when wearing a traditional attire the focus should be on the outfit and not the shoes or distracting bandana or shades.
Next we have a way more confusing look, he is an MMR model,so this is not his fault, this mess is as a result of whoever dressed him up, we get that there was a theme and a particular trend for all the models but when you add up all of these very very different pieces together and enforce them into one outfit, no good would ever come out of it.
From the hat the scarf wrapped around him, the cowboy booties, this is Fashion? ???..whatever idea this was ment to be projected out as, there certainly is a way more better way of pulling it off.
Lastly we have dear old confused Dj Caise, listen whoever did this to you should be fired with immediate effect, how could you combine this trench coat with a bold patterned shirt and then wear blue jeans and to just incorporate brown shoes into this mix??... your just as confused as whoever dressed up that model.
Next we have Ebuka Obi Uchendu In this blue Mai Atafo inspired suit, he looked so stylish and on trend with the blue and the very unique cut of the suit, he wore a slim blue tie, white shirt, black pants and shoes, he looked absolutely cool.He knows what suits his body and he sure works his well.
Next we have Akin Faminu, he also wore a blue blazer, white shirt, touch of red on his blazer with his pocket square and a red lapel pin up, grey pants and brown shoes, he has proven over the year that he really is a man of style, he never does things the same, he switches things up and they always come out perfectly.
Next we have this gorgeous lady who was at the event, wearing a purple sequin dress, with a slit in the front, she paired it up with black high heels and accessorized with gold wrist watch, black purse and pretty make up, she looks elegant
Now, this first lady, we love her look except that it wasn't quite there yet, the long skirt started from the wrong place on that dress, it should have started from somewhere a little below her boobs and hunnay when you wear a dress with a long slit by the side, you don't pull the slit aside on the red carpet to take a picture , you bring out one leg and, Give the camera a wicked pose *sigh* "where ever she's from" , but we loved her makeup and her orange court shoes, they look good.
Now to Emma Nyra a huge fashion offender of that night. First of all that hair is all wrong for that outfit, a ponytail would have worked better, now to that horrid outfit, we simply can't understand it or whatever the inspiration of the designer was and as if the front wasn't bad enough, she turned and gave us a back view, hello!!!!!!!!!!! Also, if you wanna show your legs that bad, work on them, you're hurting our eyes. Loved her shoes though...
We were originally not going to say anything about this, but we can't hold our tongues any longer. This was a huge and grave offense to the fashion world.
Here's Toyin Lawani, fashion designer and CEO of Elegante by Tiannah styling ,at the already concluded 2014 music meets runway, wearing a Balmain Knockoff dress just like the hollywood actress Elise Neal.
Now above you can view the Balmain mini coming down the runway in all its glory and also on Kim Kardashian, The dress estimated price tag is about $10K, we everyday girls can understand looking elsewhere for inspiration, but not taking it as far as rocking a knockoff/a faux designer dress.
The dress does look good on her though, but it is totally unacceptable, of course it's not by force to wear the real thing especially when it's a bit pricy, you can also put a twist on it , make it your own and it wouldn't be so obvious it's a cheap imitation of the real deal. Considering the fact that she is a fashion designer, this just hurts.
Next we Have one of the Matharoo sisters,Karin.
She looks very pretty of cause, she is wearing a black body suit with sheer panels at the top and her lower belly, she accesorized right, her black shoes compliment this look perfectly but this is a Fashion event, not a night club or video shoot, it really doesn't blend in perfectly on the red carpet of such an event, you see guys!!, knowing what outfit suits a particular occasion is really part of the keys to not just looking great on the red carpet but also to make sense with your look.
Lastly we have the drama queen Kanayo Ebi we are sorry but she looks too dramatic for that word not to be used, she has wild, long white hair, she wore a sleeveless coat over a dress which obviously has a slit and an already unique tailoring(it should have been one or the other ) to it and paired all of that, with white very very strappy heels, she looks like she's homeless and she was allowed to attend MMR and so she quickly wore all the good stuff she had gathered over the years and just stuffed herself in them all, this isn't flattering to her, her body and neither does it look good, only great thing about this is her pretty face and that gorgeous smile...
No No No...it is never okay, Fashion Is about bringing it, making looks your own, owning it, what can you bring to the table??, how can a look or dress be distinguished and unique when you wear it, fashion is not about basically giving up and just throwing on anything or what you would wear on a normal day to go take selfies at a joint with friends.
Especially not to a fashion event, if you are not into fashion or getting all dressed up, then you best sit at home.
Don't come over and spoil or influence the beautiful aura that the fashionable looks have created.
We are not saying that one cannot be simple and be stylish or elegant, No thats not it.Genevieve Nnaji always looks very simple and casual yet she manages to be stylish and make whatever look she has on pop.
A very clear example of how to look casual but very fashionable or stylish still is the last guy in the picture. He definitely has got style. enough ??
